Current Little Pleasures

F*ck, That's Delicious, former chef and current rapper Action Bronson's food and travel show on Viceland.

March Madness/2016 NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.  I don't have any teams playing in the tournament, but I still enjoy watching the games.

Easter has the best holiday candy.  Chocolate everywhere!!

I finally met my great-nephew, William, yesterday.  Such a serious sweetheart.  He does the cutest "come here" motion with his hand when he wants a person or thing to come closer to him.  Yes, his little world pretty effectively rotates around him, and he knows it.

Write_On Kit
I received my letter-writing kit from Write_On this week.
From their About page:
Write_On is a campaign to promote joy, creativity, expression and connection through hand-written correspondence. Inspired by Egg Press founder Tess Darrow’s challenge to herself to write a letter daily, the campaign officially launched in 2014 with the entire staff of Egg Press and Hello!Lucky challenging ourselves, our friends, our families, and our fans to write 30 letters in 30 days over the month of April, National Letter-writing Month.

TheMysteryofEverettRuess by W.L. Rusho (updated 2010).  A writer and artist, Everett Ruess disappeared in 1934, age 20, in the American Southwest.  Most of Rusho's book is a compilation of Ruess' 1930-1934 letters to his parents, older brother, and friends.  Ruess' block prints and Rusho's photos provide a backdrop to Ruess' descriptions.  While interesting to read, Ruess' thoughts and actions reflect his extreme youth.

The Last Season by Eric Blehm (2006).  Exploration of the life, career, and line-of-duty disappearance, in 1996, of Sierra backcountry Ranger Randy Morgenson.  Fortunately for Morgenson's widow and friends, his remains were found five years after his death, so at least they found a closure denied to Ruess' loved ones.

Dancing with Myself by Billy Idol (2014).  Hearing certain Billy Idol songs transports me immediately to one of my favorite weekends, high school French and Spanish Clubs joint trip to Chicago in October 1986.  Sweet memories…

The Death of Lila Jane by Teresa Mummert (2016).  A sweet story about Kaden, a boy who has gone through a lot, and Lila Jane, a girl who has barely lived due to her sheltered life, going on the run for the summer.  I actually liked the (bittersweet) ending prior to the (too-sweet) tacked-on, jump-ahead-in-time pieces at the end of the book.

The Hunted by HJ Bellus (2016).  Could not get into any character in this book, and that was before the over-the-top, twisted stuff at the end.  Waitress in a strip club, just saving to start college, falls for either the guy just out of prison or the preppy college boy, the one her best friend likes, or both.  Yuk.

Make Me by Tessa Bailey (2015).  Friendship that turns into more for a construction worker and a wealthy woman.  Two other couples provide for a nice supporting friendship circle.

Outgoing Mail--February 16-29, 2016
