“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for
everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step
toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.” ~~Brian Tracy
“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more.
If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” ~~Oprah Winfrey
"If you think Independence Day is America's defining holiday, think again. Thanksgiving deserves that title, hands-down." ~~Tony Snow
"When we focus on our gratitude, the tide of disappointment goes out and the tide of love washes in." ~~Kristin Armstrong
"No one who achieves success does so without acknowledging the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude." ~~Alfred North Whitehead

Wooden Australian postcard. I plan to use this postcard as a Christmas tree ornament.
Postcard from the Ukraine of the monument to the founders of Kiev.
Postcard from China of the doctor's villa in Chongqing that became the German embassy during WWII.
Postcard from Thailand of the Similan Island. I had this postcard in mind while scraping my windshield after work on Thursday.
The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd (2008). Maya and I read this middle-school mystery together. After their cousin, Salim, fails to get off the London Eye, young siblings Ted and Kat embark on their own attempt to find him. How could Salim just disappear, and what happened to him? Ted's different, Asperger-type perspective on the world may make all the difference in finding answers.
Enslaved by Ducks by Bob Tarte (2004). This true story was the November selection for my hospital book club. After moving to rural Michigan, Bob and wife Linda begin accumulating a menagerie of animals--rabbits, parrots, ducks, turkeys, cats, etc.--and a collection of sometimes entertaining, sometimes sad, and very believable stories to go along with the "zoo."
Shopping at Target. Of course Maya had to bring home Union Jack-themed sunglasses.
Part of her serving ritual at Maya's volleyball team's last game of the season. They finished with a 3-4 record and a lot of improvement over the course of the season. Maya's already missing her teammates, the coaches, and practices and games.
Hanging out with Maya's godmother's cat, who looks to me like she's plotting either a quick escape or harm to something.
Shih tzu Muffin, Maya, and Rottweiler Allie hanging out at home.
As a small part of their work on a Simple Meals badge, Maya and her Girl Scouts troop visited Lincoln's newest Dairy Queen for a behind-the-scenes look. Being a Junior Girl Scout this year instead of a Brownie means a lot more work goes into earning each badge. For this badge, Maya still needs to write a plan for five healthy breakfasts, make a family breakfast, and spend a few hours next month making a full meal with her troop. (2013)—The first book in the series, Real,
is one of my favorite romance reads ever.
This sequel leaves me feeling pretty “meh.” I wasn’t too crazy about a couple of the
situations involving other characters that were used to provide drama for Remy
and Brooke’s relationship because they felt forced and artificial, especially
as they had plenty going on without those issues. I plan to stick with reading Real again the next time I want a Remy
fix. Sweet Home by

Prince seem like an odd pairing at first glance. Between instant chemistry and enough in
common underneath the surface, they work perfectly. Can they, despite strong outside forces and
personal issues working against their relationship, stay together, though? Love in the Time of
